An Ocala man was jailed Wednesday night after a violent altercation with his lady friend over loud music that was being played through an Alexa Bluetooth speaker.
The victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that 27-year-old Joseph Allen Oker grabbed her by her wrist and pushed her up against a wooden shelf when she attempted to turn off the music. The deputy noted a small bruise on her right wrist and skin flaking off her left elbow from what appeared to be being dragged against something, a sheriff’s office report states.
A deputy attempted to read Oker his rights but he refused to speak with him. The deputy then placed Oker under arrest and noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, the report says.
Oker was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with domestic battery. He was being held on $1,000 bond and is due in court March 18 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge, jail records show.
