Belleview man jailed after scuffling with police at AdventHealth

Zachary James Elliott

A Belleview man fought with two Ocala Police officers while being arrested and then threatened them on the ride to jail.

Zachary James Elliott, 35, of 6220 SE Hames Road #5, allegedly became disruptive at AdventHealth Ocala on Wednesday and refused to leave the hospital. He appeared heavily intoxicated and at first tried to hug the responding officer. When asked what was going on, he started yelling and screaming and tried to run away, according to the police report.

The officer tackled Elliott and another officer joined in to help handcuff him. Elliott kicked the front door of the hospital as he was being taken to the patrol vehicle and had to be placed on the ground to be controlled before being put in the vehicle. While on the way to Marion County Jail, he told the officers he wanted to fight them as soon as he gets the chance, the report said.

Elliott remained verbally agitated after he arrived at the jail. Once his handcuffs were removed, he pushed a corrections officer with both hands and had to be re-detained. Elliott was charged with battery on a law-enforcement officer, trespassing after a warning, and resisting without violence. He’s being held on $4,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on March 24.
