Popular Student Media Festival to be held in April at Marion Technical Institute

The 19th annual Marion County Student Media Festival is just around the corner.

The popular star-studded event will be held April 10 at the Marion Technical Institute Auditorium. It will highlight the outstanding video production work of students from throughout Marion County.

The purpose of the festival is to encourage students to communicate through media production. The event also recognizes the excellent work being done in area schools by student media producers.

The Elementary Awards Ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the Middle and High School Awards Ceremonies at about 8:15 p.m. (15 minutes after the elementary ceremony ends).

Each year, more than 300 entries are submitted from students in Grades K through 12. Many of the Marion County entries advance to state competition after winning at the local level. Also, Marion County students continue to capture more awards than any other Florida school district in the state competition.

The Festival is underwritten with community donations and organized by local educators. Platinum partners include the Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute and the Public Education Foundation of Marion County, along with presenting sponsor Cox Communications.

Marion Technical Institute is located at 1614 E. Fort King Street in Ocala.
