Gainesville man jailed after deputy spots him driving with expired license tag

Clifford Byron Trunick

A Gainesville man who was stopped for driving with an expired license tag found himself behind bars Tuesday afternoon.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped a black four-door vehicle driven by 35-year-old Clifford Byron Trunick IV on Hwy. 326. Trunick told the deputy his license was suspended and handed him a Florida identification card, a sheriff’s office report claims.

A computer check confirmed that Trunick’s license was suspended on April 8, 2019 for failure to pay a traffic fine. He was then placed under arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where was charged with knowingly driving while license suspended or revoked.

Trunick was released Tuesday morning on $500 bond. His next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
