Ocala woman jailed after fight with money-hungry man friend

Kashontae Breanna James

An Ocala woman was arrested Wednesday morning after a spat with a man she says kept asking her for money.

Kashontae Breanna James, 23, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened around 8 a.m. at her residence on NW 55th Avenue.

James told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that the victim kept asking her for money and she wouldn’t give him any. She said the victim got mad and threw a television to the ground. James said that angered her and she punched the victim in the chest with a closed fist, according to the sheriff’s office report.

James said the victim grabbed her by the hair and threw her on the ground as she continued punching him “all over.” She said the victim left and returned to the residence multiple times, keeping the argument going, the report said.

James said after one of the times the victim came back, she threw a drink at him and he threw her to the ground again and kicked her in the head. The deputy did not observe any marks on James’ head and she wouldn’t initially say where she was kicked, according to the report.

The victim was very reluctant to tell the deputy what happened. He eventually said there was an argument and James punched him. The victim said he never touched James and didn’t know how many times he was punched, the report said.

James, who was previously charged with domestic battery in February 2018, was taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released Friday on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on March 20.
