Fort McCoy woman charged with pointing revolver during spat over bills

Janine Ann Myers

A suicidal Fort McCoy woman was arrested Sunday night after she admitted to pointing a loaded .357 Ruger Security Six revolver at a woman who was arguing with her about paying bills.

Janine Ann Myers told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she had made suicidal threats on Facebook stating, “I can’t take this anymore.” She said she pointed the gun at herself but did not follow through, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Myers said the victim, who lives at the same residence, barged into her bedroom and started a verbal argument about paying bills. She said the victim left the bedroom during the argument and went into the living room. Myers said she grabbed her weapon and walked into the living room and pointed it at the victim, the report said.

Myers said she didn’t intend to kill the victim and only wanted to scare her. She said after continuing to verbally argue with the victim, she threw the firearm onto a nearby chair. The victim said she was afraid for her life during the incident and had no idea what Myers’ intentions were, according to the report.

Myers was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and taken to the Marion County Jail, where a Baker Act form was completed. She was released Tuesday on her own recognizance and is due in Marion County Court on March 31.
