Fast-driving Ocala woman charged with DUI

Alssyia Antoinette Holiday

An Ocala woman was arrested on a drunk-driving charge after being pulled over early Wednesday morning for driving 81 mph in a 45-mph zone.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy conducting routine traffic patrol in the area of 7000 SE 58th Avenue observed a gray Honda van driven by Alssyia Antoinette Holiday, 23, of 304 Oak Track Trail, traveling north at a high speed. After radar confirmed Holiday was speeding, the deputy conducted a traffic stop along the 6800 block of SE 58th Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy immediately noticed the odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. Holiday was the sole occupant and her eyes were bloodshot and watery. Asked if she had anything to drink, Holiday said she had “just taken a shot,” the report said.

After speaking to Holiday outside the vehicle, the deputy was able to determine the odor of alcohol was coming from her breath. She agreed to perform a series of sobriety exercises and failed most of them before being taken to the Marion County Jail, according to the report.

Once at the jail, Holiday provided a breath sample that came back with readings of .171 and .168 percent alcohol content. She was charged with DUI with a BAC over .15. Holiday was released later in the day on Wednesday on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
