Man sought as person of interest in Belleview homicide behind bars

Rene Nadal

A man who was sought as a person of interest in a recent fatal shooting in Belleview has been caught.

A Marion County Sheriff’s Office task force deputy, working alongside the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, located 28-year-old Rene Nadal Thursday hiding in a home in Silver Springs Shores. They wanted to speak with him about the Feb. 14 shooting in the 4400 block of SE 115th Street that left 32-year-old Charles Brady dead.

Nadal was taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail shortly before 2:30 p.m. He was charged with an outstanding warrant for possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and held on no bond.

Nadal has had numerous previous arrests and convictions. He has faced charges of dealing in stolen property, displaying a firearm during the commission of a felony, shooting into a building, aggravated battery and attempted armed burglary, to name a few. In fact, over the past eight years, he has been arrested several times on 20 different criminal charges.
