Lady Lake woman becomes first tri-county resident with Coronavirus

A Lady Lake woman is confirmed to have a case of the Coronavirus, marking the first official case in the tri-county area.

The woman, said to be in her 60s, has a “travel-related” case of COVID-19, according to The Florida Department of Health.

The woman, a resident of Lady Lake Mobile Home Park on Griffin View Drive, reportedly felt ill enough to seek medical care on Friday at a local express care. Medical personnel there recommended she seek treatment at a nearby hospital and the woman went to The Villages Regional Hospital. A swab was taken at the hospital. The woman learned over the weekend she had tested positive for the Coronavirus. She is set to be under quarantine at her home.

The Lady Lake woman’s case is the first in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. Over the weekend, a case was confirmed in Citrus County, which is adjacent to both Sumter and Marion counties. There is also a confirmed case in Alachua County, which is north of Marion County.
