Silver Springs man arrested after fight with woman who accused him of cheating

John David Siebert Held

A Silver Springs man is accused of slapping a woman who accused him of cheating on her.

John David Siebert Held, 59, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened Tuesday evening. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and Held were outside their residence painting their empty swimming pool when they got into an argument of Held’s schedule and the possibility of him texting or contacting other women, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Held slapped her across the face, and she immediately ran into the residence and dialed 911. She provided a sworn written statement of the incident. The deputy did not observe any obvious injuries and the victim refused medical treatment. A witness who was inside the residence said he saw the victim run into the residence but didn’t see any physical contact, the report said.

Held said he and the victim got into an argument when she accused him of cheating. He said he swiped his hand across her face to make her stop talking and it worked, according to the report.

Held was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on his own recognizance. He’s due to appear in Marion County Court on April 15.
