Nasty tiff with lady friend and woman lands Inverness man behind bars

James Lyons Wright Jr.

An Inverness man was jailed recently after a battle with his lady friend and another woman.

The lady friend told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that 24-year-old James Lyons Wright Jr. grabbed her by the arms and was squeezing and pushing her around. The deputy noted red marks on her arms above her elbows, a sheriff’s office report states.

The second victim told the sheriff’s deputy that she attempted to separate Wright and the other woman. She claimed that Wright pushed her back, causing her to fall on a vehicle and break the side mirror. She said Wright then left the area, the report says.

Wright said he and his lady friend had been arguing for several days. He said they were arguing face to face, but he never touched her. He said that when the other victim said she was going to call law enforcement, he left the area to “de-escalate the situation,” the report says.

Wright was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with two counts of battery. He’s due in court April 22 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charges.
