A Belleview man who asked police to get him away from the woman he admitted to hitting was taken to the Marion County Jail.
Jose Daniel Pacheco-Figueroa was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened Monday morning at the residence he and the victim share. Pacheco-Figueroa told the responding Belleview Police officer he and the victim have been in a romantic relationship for the past seven years.
The victim, who was still crying when she spoke to the officer, said Pacheco-Figueroa grabbed her blouse and ripped it and punched her in the lip and in the face. She said she tried to fight off Pacheco-Figueroa. The victim had a small laceration on her bottom lip and redness on her left cheek, but she declined medical attention, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The officer made contact with Pacheco-Figueroa in the upstairs common bathroom. When asked what happened, Pacheco-Figueroa said he was trying to get away from the victim because she was yelling at him. He said he struck the victim and stood over her to keep her away from him. Pacheco-Figueroa requested that he be allowed to go somewhere away from the victim, the report said.
Another person in the residence, whose identity was redacted, said she didn’t see Pacheco-Figueroa strike the victim but she did see him standing over her in the upstairs hallway while she was on the phone and he was recording her with his cell phone, according to the report.
Pacheco-Figueroa was released on $1,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on May 19.
