Marion County Public Schools offering distance learning help page

Marion County Public School students, parents and families can now access a “Distance Learning Page” for help.

Visit www.marionschools.net and look for the yellow “Distance Learning for Students” tab at the top. This resource helps prepare students for the online classroom experience. Covered topics include the student desktop, teacher web pages and digital communication platforms.

Classroom assignments and activities remain available on teacher web pages found at each school’s website accessible via www.marionschools.net. Paper copies are available by request from individual schools.

MCPS has loaned 10,350 Chromebook devices to local students. Devices are no longer available, as campuses and district offices are closed to the public. This allows the district to better protect students, staff and the community by abiding with the governor’s “safer-at-home” order.

Essential business is conducted via email and telephone, with most employees working from home. For technical issues with school-distributed Chromebooks, users can call the Parent Service Desk Helpline at (352) 867-2100. This helpline operates Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (wait times can vary).

Technicians cannot resolve issues with Internet connections or student passwords.
The Florida Department of Health wants Florida residents to participate in a new COVID-19 Community Action Survey at www.strongerthanc19.com. The anonymous two-minute survey asks a brief series of questions to help inform and improve the state’s response to COVID-19. The goal is to help flatten the curve of this coronavirus impact.

“Grab & Go” meal service continues its third week of service. On Wednesday, 4,998 students received 9,996 breakfast and lunch meals. Since March 24, the district has handed out 104,897 meals. Children do not have to be present to be served; however, parents/family members must present appropriate legal identification to pick up those meals on their children’s behalf. Families can call 211 or text “FoodFL” to 877-7877 for their nearest serving location. This program serves all children 18 and under regardless of whether they walk or ride a bicycle, bus or car to school and continues Monday-Friday until classes resume.
