Ocala woman accused of biting and scratching her mother’s boyfriend

Kelsie Cheyenne Sosebee

An Ocala woman was arrested for allegedly biting her mother’s boyfriend and scratching his face during an argument over finances.

Kelsie Cheyenne Sosebee, 28, of 4822 NE 32nd St., was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened around noon Wednesday at the victim’s residence on NE 138th Avenue in Fort McCoy.

Sosebee told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she, her mother and the victim were in a verbal argument about paying bills. She said the victim started to yell at her and when she approached him, he grabbed her and put her in a headlock, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Sosebee said she bit the victim on the arm and scratched his face to make him let go of her. She said the victim punched in her mouth. The deputy observed Sosebee had a busted lower lip. Sosebee said the victim has been violent with her in the past and she is in fear of him, the report said.

The victim said he was arguing with Sosebee’s mother about paying bills when Sosebee became angry and charged at him. He said Sosebee pulled pictures off the wall and started throwing them at him. The victim said Sosebee had a screwdriver but never threatened him with it, according to the report.

The victim said Sosebee grabbed him in the face and scratched it. He said he tried to keep Sosebee away but couldn’t, so he grabbed her and she bit him on his arm. The victim said he was able to separate himself from Sosebee while Sosebee’s mother called 911. The deputy observed the victim had two bleeding scratches under his right eye and a bite mark on his right arm, the report said.

Sosebee’s mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend, said there was a dispute about paying bills when Sosebee became mad and charged the victim. She said Sosebee stabbed a screwdriver into the wall and grabbed a picture frame and threw it at the victim’s face, scratching him, according to the report.

There were two minor children at the location during the incident. The deputy asked one of them, who is Sosebee’s daughter, if Sosebee had a screwdriver, to which the child replied yes, mommy had the screwdriver for self-defense, the report said.

Based on witness statements and the fact that she threw a picture frame at the victim, Sosebee was determined to be the primary aggressor. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday on $500 bond. She’ll answer to the battery charge in Marion County Court on July 8.
