A 21-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after chest-bumping another woman during an altercation with another woman in a Publix checkout line.
Makayla Marie Cooley, of 4300 SW 45th Court, was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened Thursday evening at the Publix Super Market at Heather Island Plaza, 7578 SE Maricamp Road. The store’s assistant manager showed a Marion County sheriff’s deputy surveillance camera footage that showed Cooley using her chest to unlawfully touch the victim during an argument, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim told the deputy that Cooley left the checkout line she was in and entered the line where she was located. She said an argument ensued and Cooley used her chest to bump into the front of the victim’s body. Three store employees who witnessed the incident provided corroborating statements, the report said.
Cooley denied touching the victim and said she wasn’t sure if her chest touched the victim. She declined to say anything else to the deputy. Cooley was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Friday on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
