Ocala man popped for driving with suspended license

Nathaniel Johnson

An Ocala man was charged with driving with a suspended license after being pulled over Thursday night on West Hwy. 40.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy conducting routine traffic control on the highway observed a white 1996 Buick LeSabre heading west in the 3500 block of West Highway 40 at around 11 p.m. A records check showed the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license and a warrant, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The vehicle pulled into the McDonald’s at 3595 W. Hwy. 40 and the deputy conducted the traffic stop. The deputy confirmed the driver – Nathaniel Johnson, 50, of 1705 NW 16th Court – was the registered owner and dispatchers confirmed his license was suspended for failure to pay child support. Johnson said he didn’t know his license was suspended, the report said.

Johnson was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Friday on $2,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on May 14.
