Ocala woman accused of kicking deputy while being Baker Acted

Rebekah Noel Feldman

An Ocala woman was arrested after she allegedly fought with Marion County sheriff’s deputies who were trying to place her under a Baker Act on Wednesday.

Rebekah Noel Feldman, 43, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. Feldman’s husband had called 911 to report she had been missing for several hours and had made suicidal statements. He said Feldman had been drinking all day and was highly intoxicated, and the last time he saw her she was sleeping on the living room couch, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Feldman’s husband showed the deputy around the residence as they looked for her. When they got to the last room in the house, which appeared to be vacant, they found Feldman hiding halfway underneath a bed, the report said.

The deputy immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Feldman’s breath. She met Baker Act criteria and was told she was being placed under a Baker Act. Feldman refused to come out from behind the bed and had to be dragged out to be placed in handcuffs. She actively resisted the entire time, according to the report.

Multiple units responded to the scene to assist. Feldman kicked a deputy multiple times in the chest while she was having a hobble restraint placed on her, the report said.

While she was being taken to the Marion County Jail, Feldman asked why she was being arrested. After being told she was being charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, Feldman said, “That officer provoked me,” according to the report.

Feldman was released Thursday on her own recognizance and is due to appear in Marion County Court on June 2.
