Ocala woman arrested after spat over leg room in minivan

MyAngela Denisha Irving

An 18-year-old Ocala woman is accused of battering a woman who wouldn’t adjust her car seat to give her more leg room.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy reported Sunday to the Roses parking lot at 8447 SW Hwy. 200, where the victim said MyAngela Denisha Irving, of 6650 NW 10th Ave., battered her.

The victim said she was in the second row of a minivan and Irving was in the third row. She said Irving wanted her to move up her seat so she would have more leg room. The victim said she refused, and Irving struck her in the back of the head and they got into a physical altercation. The deputy didn’t observe any injuries on the victim, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Irving told the deputy the victim was sitting in front of her in the second row of the van. She said she asked the victim to move her seat up and the victim said no. Irving said due to the victim refusing, she struck her in the back of the head with an open hand, which led to a physical altercation, the report said.

Irving was charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on her own recognizance. She’ll appear in Marion County Court on July 8.
