Marion County firefighters have joined the battle against the wildfires in Santa Rosa County.
Marion County Fire Rescue sent five firefighters aboard Engine 101 as part of Strike Team 1302. Those include: Dep. Chief Bart Walker, Lt. Scott Ramage, Engineer Daniel Smith, Firefighter/Paramedic Ben Traback and Firefighter/EMT Chase Long. They deployed Wednesday and hooked up with engines from Alachua, Clay, St. John’s and Flagler counties at Interstate 75 and Interstate 10.
On Thursday, Engine 101’s crew was busy surveying damage caused by the wildfire. They hit the ground running doing structural damage assessments and mop up duty.
