City of Ocala suspension of service disconnections expire June 15

The City of Ocala Municipal Services’ temporary no-disconnect policy will expire Monday, June 15.

The disconnection policy for past due balances resumes the following day. Customers having trouble paying their utility bill, for any reason, must contact a service representative to make necessary payment arrangements. Payments can be made at any self-service kiosk, City of Ocala website, Fidelity Express, Western Union, Amscot and MoneyGram locations. Additional payment options and other online tools such as residential start-and-stop service, residential service transfers and payment extensions can be found at www.ocalafl.org. Payments also can be made via the automated phone system at 844-286-1785.

As the disconnection policy goes into effect, the city is warning customers to be suspicious of callers demanding immediate payment using any prepaid card, debit or credit card or wire transfer. Never share personal or financial information with anyone that calls or emails you. Never meet a stranger in person to make a payment. If you believe there is a problem with your account call the City of Ocala Municipal Services Customer Service at (352) 629-2489.

The City of Ocala Customer Service Office also will begin a phased approach to reopening the lobby to customers, with adjusted lobby hours of 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 29.

Regular lobby hours will resume Monday, June 1, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday; Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call Center hours will remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors entering public buildings will be screened using a touchless forehead or temporal artery thermometer. Visitors displaying visible symptoms of upper respiratory symptoms or a body temperature at or above 100 degrees will not be allowed to enter the building.

All visitors are strongly encouraged to wear a cloth face covering, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations. Masks must be unobtrusive, fit snugly over the mouth and allow persons to breathe comfortably. Novelty masks that cover the entire face and prohibit a person from being recognized are not acceptable.
Customers are reminded that services are available online, such as residential start-and-stop service, residential service transfers and payment extensions. All can be found at www.ocalafl.org.
