One motorist was taken to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash in Ocala.
Ocala firefighters were called to the crash at 3:34 p.m. near the intersection of SE 30th Avenue and Maricamp Road. When they arrived, they found a blue SUV on its side and a silver convertible with rear-end damage. A motorist was still in each of the vehicles, a report states.
The driver of the SUV needed to be extricated from the vehicle. Crews stabilized the SUV to remove the front windshield and gain access to the patient, who was then transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the convertible wasn’t injured. Ocala Fire Rescue sent Engine 2, Rescue 2, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 11 and a safety officer to the crash. Crews from Marion County Fire Rescue and officers from the Ocala Police Department also responded.
