Ocala man popped for DUI a block from home

Colton Revere Magan

An Ocala man’s breath-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he was charged with DUI a block from his home.

Colton Revere Magan, 29, was pulled over May 11 just four houses away from his residence at 5970 SE 145th St. after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy spotted him traveling 67 mph in a 45-mph zone without headlights. The deputy observed Magan’s eyes were glassy and there was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, according to the sheriff’s office.

Asked if he had anything to drink, Magan said he had two glasses of wine about two hours earlier. He agreed to perform a series of field sobriety exercises after telling the deputy he was a heavy drug user and has issues with balance, the report said.

Magan failed each of the sobriety exercises and was placed under arrest. He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he provided a breath sample for testing that came back with levels of .213 and .220. He was released the next day on $1,000 bond.
