Seven new cases of COVID-19 reported at rehab facility near The Villages

An outbreak of the Coronavirus was reported Wednesday at a nursing home just outside the boundaries of The Villages.

Seven new cases of the potentially deadly virus were identified at The Villages Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, located at 900 County Road 466 in Lady Lake. Those all were reported as residents, two of whom transferred out of the facility. An employee already had tested positive this week, meaning the facility has seen eight cases of the virus develop within its walls this week alone.

As of Wednesday, the tri-county area was reporting 772 cases of the Coronavirus, an increase of just one in a 24-hour period. Those are comprised of 412 men, 340 women and 20 non-residents. There have been 37 deaths and 150 people have been hospitalized.
