A 31-year-old Ocala man died Sunday night after a SUV traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into the side of his sedan in Marion County.
The 9:30 p.m. crash took place as the sedan approached the intersection of County Road 467 and County Road 484. The SUV, which was being driven by a 34-year-old Ocala man, ran through the red light at the intersection of the county roads and slammed into the sedan, which then caught fire, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV sustained critical injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, the FHP report says.
The names of those involved in the crash weren’t released per a recently enacted FHP policy.
