Diligence pays off as tiny kitten rescued from undercarriage of Ocala Police cruiser

This tiny kitten was rescued from the undercarriage of an Ocala Police Department vehicle on Wednesday. The animal wasn’t injured and was relocated by an officer who rescues cats in her spare time.

Personnel from the Ocala Police Department worked together Wednesday morning to save a tiny kitten’s life.

The incident started when an officer reported hearing a kitten meowing under the hood of her patrol vehicle. She couldn’t locate the animal and several other people also were unsuccessful in finding the kitten after crawling underneath the vehicle.

Officers later assumed the kitten had crawled out from underneath the vehicle during a morning briefing session but to be safe, the cruiser was taken to a fleet maintenance bay to be lifted up and thoroughly checked.

A short time later, the kitten could be heard meowing again. A wheel on the vehicle was removed and the tiny animal was located behind some components.

The kitten, which wasn’t injured, was removed and relocated by another officer who rescues cats in her spare time.
