Belleview man nabbed after nasty tiff with gal pal over self-quarantining mom

Elvis Lionel Sosa

A Belleview man was jailed Thursday after he became angry the day before and claimed his lady friend was ignoring his mother as she self-quarantined due to possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

The victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that she and 33-year-old Elvis Lionel Sosa were having a party this past Wednesday with both of their families in the backyard of their Belleview residence. She said as the party was ending, Sosa became upset at her for ignoring his mother, who was staying inside the house because of possible exposure to the Coronavirus, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim said Sosa “grabbed her by the head” and forced out the front door of the residence toward his mother’s car while demanding that she apologize to her. She said she ran into her bedroom and called law enforcement for help.

While she was on the phone, Sosa left the residence. When deputies arrived, they noted that she didn’t appear to have any physical injuries but was “extremely fearful” that Sosa was going to return and hurt her despite deputies being at her home, the report says.

Sosa was arrested the following night and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery. He was released Friday afternoon on $250 bond and is due in court Aug. 4 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge, jail records show.
