UDEST agents prevent felonies and seize drugs during highway enforcement operation

Agents from the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team conducted more than 25 traffic stops during a recent two-day highway enforcement operation.

Agents, assisted by officers from the Ocala Police Department and deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, intervened in two in-progress felonies and were instrumental in the apprehension of two armed robbery and carjacking suspects.

They seized illicit drugs, contraband and assets, including crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a 2007 Audi A6. The agents also arrested multiple people for varying criminal offenses, including possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended or revoked.

UDEST is an initiative of the North Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. It is comprised of local, state and federal law enforcement from the Ocala Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Homeland Security.
