31-year-old Ocala man accused of kicking paramedic during ambulance ride

Jimmie Lee Stevens

An Ocala man being taken to the hospital under a Baker Act is accused of kicking a paramedic during an outburst in the ambulance.

Jimmie Lee Stevens, 31, of 9810 Bahia Road, was charged with battery on an EMT after the incident, which happened Wednesday night. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Stevens became combative and kicked him in the left wrist. He said he wanted to press charges and that his wrist was still sore from being kicked, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Another EMT said he saw Stevens kicking around in the back of the ambulance and heard the victim say, “He just kicked me in the wrist,” but did not see him actually kick the victim. A student observer who was in the ambulance said he saw Stevens kick the victim multiple times, according to the report.

After being medically cleared at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Stevens was taken to the Marion County Jail. He was released Friday on $1,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on July 14.
