Dunnellon woman accused of slapping woman in family spat

Brooke Elizabeth Palmisano

A 29-year-old Dunnellon woman with two prior domestic battery arrests was jailed again Monday after she allegedly slapped a family member who told her to turn off the lights.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Brooke Elizabeth Palmisano and her two children have been living with her for three years. She said a verbal argument started when she told Palmisano multiple times that she needed to turn out the lights. The victim said Palmisano is a “meth” user and she believes she is going through withdrawal, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she was laying in bed with Palmisano’s son when Palmisano entered her bedroom and slapped her in the face and arms. She said the juvenile witnessed Palmisano slapping her, the report said.

The juvenile said Palmisano was screaming at the victim and throwing stuff around the house. He said he was laying in bed with the victim, watching TV, when Palmisano entered the room and started slapping the victim. The deputy didn’t observe any injuries on the victim, according to the report.

Palmisano said she was upset after being locked outside the residence by the victim. She denied slapping the victim and said if she were to hit the victim, she would knock her teeth out, the report said.

Palmisano, who arrested on domestic battery charges twice in 2018, was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Wednesday on $1,000 bond. She’ll appear in Marion County Court on July 8.
