Two men jailed after high-speed pursuit of vehicle reported stolen in Georgia

Timothy William Vaughn

The driver of a vehicle reported stolen in Georgia and his passenger found themselves behind bars Wednesday after a high-speed pursuit.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy spotted 32-year-old Timothy William Vaughn driving the dark green Nissan. The deputy attempted a traffic stop and Vaughn fled, leading to a pursuit, a sheriff’s office report states.

Multiple deputies, as well as a sheriff’s helicopter, responded to assist with the pursuit. A deputy conducted a maneuver to disable the vehicle and Vaughn surrendered.

Joshua David Scott, 32, and three juveniles exited the vehicle from the back seat. The juveniles said they had been begging Vaughn to pull over, the report says.

He was being held on $9,500 bond and is due in court July 21 at 9 a.m.

Scott, of Altoona, was charged with possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams and possession and/or use of drug equipment. He also was charged with probation violations on three counts of burglary and three counts of grand theft. He was being held on $1,000 bond on the new charges and no bond on the probation violations and is due in court July 8 at 1 p.m.
