Ocala woman charged with battering ungrateful man on Father’s Day

Ana Liz Alonso

An Ocala woman upset because her Father’s Day gift was rejected is accused of battering a man and a juvenile who tried to intervene.

Ana Liz Alonso, 35, was charged with two counts of domestic battery after the incident, which happened Sunday night at her residence on SW 41st Avenue Road.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded at around 11:30 p.m. to a suspicious incident. The deputy told the adult victim she was there to conduct a well-being check and asked if he could have Alonso step outside. The victim awakened Alonso and she came outside with tears in her eyes, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy asked Alonso if she was in danger or if she needed assistance. She said she didn’t want to stay at the residence and that the victim wouldn’t let her go to Georgia to visit her sisters. Alonso said when she tried to leave, the adult victim and juvenile victim held her down and didn’t allow her to go, the report said.

The juvenile victim told the deputy that Alonso was upset with the victim because he didn’t want the cake she made him for Father’s Day and wanted to leave. He said Alonso threw a box of perfume at the adult victim while he was holding a young child. The juvenile witness said he and the adult victim did restrain Alonso to keep her from being aggressive or leaving with the child, according to the report.

The juvenile victim said Alonso kicked him in the groin to get him to let her go. He said Alonso hit the adult victim continuously and that the adult victim was only trying to keep the him and the other child safe, the report said.

The adult victim told the deputy that he and Alonso had an argument a few days ago. He said when he came home from work Sunday, she had balloons, gifts and a cake for him. The adult victim he told Alonso he didn’t want anything because of her being so disrespectful a few days earlier, according to the report.

The adult victim said Alonso was throwing things and punching him because she wanted to leave with the child. He said he and the juvenile tried to calm Alonso down and keep her from taking the child. The adult victim showed a video of Alonso coming towards him. It appears in the video as if the victim is trying to keep her from hitting him, the report said.

Alonso had a small bruise on her arm that she told the deputy came from the adult victim detaining her. The adult victim had some swelling under his left eye, according to the report.

Alonso was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on her own recognizance. She’s due to appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 25.
