Florida suspends consumption of alcohol at bars amid COVID-19 crisis

The consumption of on-premises alcohol has been suspended effectively immediately at bars across the state as new COVID-19 cases continue to emerge at a record pace.

The Florida Department of Business and Regulation made the announcement Friday morning shortly after the Sunshine State reported 8,942 new cases for a total of 122,960.

It was unclear from the announcement how the new mandate will be enforced and how it applies to restaurants.
