An Indiana-born Ocala man was caught driving with a suspended license for the second time in a week when he was stopped for speeding in Belleview.
At around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Belleview Police officer on radar patrol recorded Jacob James Jones, 29, of 12837 SW 64th Circle, going 56 mph in a 35-mph zone in the 5000 block of SE 112th Street Road. Jones told the officer he was speeding because he was late for work, according to the police report.
Asked if there was anything else he wanted to tell the officer, Jones said he was just stopped last week and given a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license. He also said he is a habitual offender in Indiana, which was confirmed through a teletype search, the report said.
Jones was given a ticket for speeding and charged with habitual driving with a suspended license. He’s being held in the Marion County Jail on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on July 28.
