New York City transplant nabbed for driving with suspended license

Luis Raul Oyola

An Ocala motorist was jailed Wednesday morning after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy recognized him and knew he didn’t have a driver’s license.

The deputy stopped a green Chrysler van on Marion Oaks Boulevard and spoke with the driver, 52-year-old Luis Raul Oyola. He told the deputy he recently had gone to court and was given community service for driving while license suspended. He said he hadn’t yet gotten his license reinstated, a sheriff’s office report states.

The deputy confirmed that Oyola’s license had been suspended three times in 2019 – Jan. 31, Nov. 13 and Dec. 16. Oyola, who lives in the 15000 block of S.W. 39th Circle in Ocala and originally is from New York City, was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license (subsequent offense). He was released early Wednesday afternoon on $1,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
