Ocklawaha woman accused of punching man in face during spat

Jessi Nicole Icenhower

An Ocklawaha woman who told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy to just go ahead and arrest her was charged with simple domestic battery after she allegedly punched a man in the face several times during a recent spat.

The victim told the deputy he was in the living room when Jessi Nicole Icenhower, 29, started striking him due to a previous incident involving the victim and another person. He said he went outside onto the porch and was struck again, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Icenhower struck him a total of three or four times. The deputy observed several marks and scratches on his face, along with small amount of blood. The deputy had responded to the residence earlier in the evening and the victim didn’t have any injuries on his face at that time, according to the report.

The victim’s mother entered the residence and found Icenhower in her bed. Icenhower initially told the deputy several times to just arrest her.  When asked about the marks on the victim, she said it was self-defense and again to arrest her, the report said.

Icenhower said the victim had been grabbing her around her neck and pushing her around. She said she had been hiding in the closet from the victim and was unable to leave. Asked if she had any injuries, Icenhower said no. The deputy observed some slight redness on Icenhower’s face but was unable to determine if it was from the incident or unrelated, the report said.

Icenhower was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was later released on $250 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 4.
