Massive tree blocks lanes on State Road 40 as limbs cover portion of barber shop

A large downed tree blocked westbound traffic on State Road 40 at 8th Avenue on Wednesday.

Traffic came to a halt on State Road 40 as limbs from a massive tree blocked the roadway Wednesday.

Limbs from a massive downed tree engulfed the side of Platinum Cutz Barber Shop on Wednesday.

It was unclear how the tree came down but some of its limbs were engulfing the side of Platinum Cutz Barber Shop. It wasn’t known immediately if the large branches damaged the building at 739 E. Silver Springs Blvd.

It appeared that at least one work crew was involved in removing the downed tree, which went across at least two westbound lanes of the busy roadway. Several onlookers came out of nearby buildings and some motorists stopped their vehicles to check out the incident.
