An Orange Springs man and his lady friend were jailed Tuesday after sheriff’s deputies received reports of a man and woman walking in a neighborhood with a shotgun.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to NE 14th Street and when they arrived, they found Nicholas Allen Elton in possession of a shotgun. A computer check revealed that the 32-year-old Elton was a convicted felon, a sheriff’s office report states.
A short time later, deputies located 30-year-old Taylor Elise Stewart, of Ocala, in a nearby wooded area. Both Elton and Stewart were then placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.
Elton was charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. He was released Wednesday night on $5,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 11 at 9 a.m.
Stewart was charged with violating her probation on a previous grand theft auto charge. She was being held on no bond and is due in court Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
