Two Ocala men pronounced dead at scene of crash 

Two Ocala men were pronounced dead at the scene of a crash after a teen driver ran a stop sign.

The 37-year-old driver of a pickup and his 54-year-old passenger had been traveling at 9:20 p.m. Friday on U.S. Hwy. 441 at County Road 316 when their truck was hit by a pickup driven by a 16-year-old from Fort McCoy who ran a stop sign, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The pickup driven by the teenager overturned. He suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Two of his passengers were ejected from the pickup. They had not been wearing seatbelts. A 17-year-old from Citra who had been in the teen’s pickup suffered critical injuries and was taken to ORMC. A 17-year-old passenger from Ocala was seriously injured and taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He is in stable condition.

The two men in the other pickup were pronounced dead by Marion County Fire Rescue.

The Department of Transportation was on scene for traffic control. The roadway reopened at 2:15 a.m.
