An Ocklawaha woman found herself behind bars Thursday afternoon after she was spotted driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a home and spoke with a woman who said that her vehicle had just been stolen. A sheriff’s lieutenant also responded to the home and on the way he spotted the stolen vehicle traveling on S.E. Maricamp Road, a sheriff’s office report states.
The lieutenant stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, 30-year-old Yvonne Lavette Wilkerson. After a short investigation she was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.
Wilkerson was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle. She was being held on $2,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
