62-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash which critically injures passenger

A 62-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash which left his female passenger critically injured.

The Ocala man had been riding the motorcycle at 6:55 p.m. Sunday southbound on SE 180 Avenue Road just north of County Road 314A near North Lake in the Ocala National Forest when he failed to negotiate a curve and the motorcycle overturned several times, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both the motorcyclist and his 37-year-old passenger from Summerfield were thrown from the motorcycle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue. The woman was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Neither of them had been wearing helmets.
