Dunnellon man jailed after fight over chores not being done

Frankie Lane Vincent

A Dunnellon man with two prior battery convictions was arrested Tuesday night after a fight with a man over chores not being done.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on SW 49th Place and spoke with the reporting party, who said the men were still fighting inside the home. Upon approaching the residence, the deputy heard loud yelling and what sounded like a physical altercation going on inside, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy announced his presence and entered the residence. He saw two men wrestling on the couch. The deputy gave both men loud commands to disengage, but they didn’t listen. He displayed his taser and got both men to stop fighting. They were detained until more units could arrive, the report said.

Frankie Lane Vincent, 40, was determined to be the aggressor. He told the deputy that he and the victim had a verbal argument over chores not being done at the residence. Vincent said he started the verbal argument but didn’t recall who threw the first punch, according to the report.

The victim told another deputy he was in his bedroom when Vincent came in and started a verbal argument about chores not being done. He said Vincent jumped on top of him while he was on the bed and struck him multiple times in the face. The deputy observed multiple injuries to both Vincent and the victim, the report said.

A records check showed Vincent was convicted of battery twice in 2003. He was charged with battery (second or subsequent offense) and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held on $5,000 bond. Lane will appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 25.
