Ocala man caught on video striking woman

Kevin Alwin-Asher Clarke-Broomfield

An Ocala man with three prior battery convictions was arrested early Thursday after he was caught on video striking a woman on the back of her head.

Kevin Alwin-Asher Clarke-Broomfield, 38, of 585 Silver Course Circle, was charged with domestic battery (second or subsequent offense). Marion County Court records show he was convicted of battery once in 2014 and twice in 2015.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Clarke-Broomfield came to her residence on Hemlock Terrace Drive on Wednesday evening. She said she was outside her vehicle when Clarke-Broomfield said he was going to shoot her in the face, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim provided the deputy with video surveillance footage that showed Clarke-Broomfield battering her. She declined medical assistance, the report said.

Interviewed at his residence, Clarke-Broomfield said he first said he went to the victim’s house to speak with her. He then changed his story, saying he went to an unnamed person’s house and was looking for him. He denied striking the victim, according to the report.

Clarke-Broomfield was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Tuesday on $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 18.
