Eleven residents have died of COVID-19 at eight long-term care centers and 154 residents and staff members have tested positive for the deadly virus at 22 different Marion County facilities.

That’s according to reports released Sunday by the Florida Department of Health. Those numbers show an increase in just three days of five fatalities and 32 more Coronavirus cases at 22 assisted living facilities and nursing homes across Marion County.

The reports don’t specify the dates the deaths took place nor when the residents and staff members tested positive. But they show a clear snapshot of the increases of COVID-19 taking place in assisted living facilities and nursing homes across the county – a trend that’s also happening across the Sunshine State.

Three of the deaths occurred at Palm Garden of Ocala, while two were reported at Timber Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The Harmony House of Ocala, Hawthorne Health and Rehab of Ocala, Brentwood at Fore Ranch, Ocala Health and Rehabilitation Center, Oakhurst Center and Avante at Ocala Inc. each reported one death as well. The report also notes that the death at Avante at Ocala Inc. remains under investigation.

The positive COVID-19 results were broken down as 46 residents, 43 residents who transferred out of the care centers and 65 employees, the report shows.
