Eustis woman jailed after clash with Gator Joe’s manager

Taylor Renee Mantlo

A 21-year-old Eustis woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly threatened to run over a manager at Gator Joe’s Beach Grill and Bar in Ocklawaha while he was trying to keep her from driving drunk.

Taylor Renee Mantlo, of 1445 Cliff Ave., was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. She was reportedly involved in an altercation at the bar, located at 12431 SE 135th Ave., and was being escorted by the manager/victim to her vehicle to de-escalate the situation.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy he asked Mantlo to leave the property, which led her to start yelling profanities. The victim called law enforcement and stood behind Mantlo’s vehicle to keep her from driving off because she was highly intoxicated and he was afraid she would cause a serious traffic accident, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Mantlo threatened him by saying, “If you do not move, I will run you over.” He said Mantlo put her vehicle in reverse and started traveling towards him. The victim said he was in fear for his life and believed the vehicle could do great bodily harm to him if it hit him. He said he wanted to pursue charges and provided a written statement, the report said.

A witness told the deputy Mantlo was yelling profanities at the victim and making threats as she entered her vehicle. He said Mantlo said something along the lines of, “If you do not move, I will run you over,” and put her vehicle in reverse and tried to “hit” the victim, according to the report.

Mantlo told the deputy the victim and witness were lying. She said she never made any threats to the victim. Mantlo said she was told to leave by the victim and she got into her vehicle, but she never tried to run him over. She was highly intoxicated throughout the conversation with the deputy, the report said.

Surveillance video of the parking lot showed the victim behind the vehicle and the vehicle reversing in his direction, according to the report.

Mantlo was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Monday on $2,000 bond. No court information was available.
