An Ocala man was jailed recently after Marion County sheriff’s deputies found him passed out inside a vehicle at an intersection.
While deputies were responding to the intersection of Jacksonville Road and N.E. 35th Street, paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue were checking out the vehicle’s driver, 28-year-old Kyle Andrew Schrader. He put the vehicle in park and ran into a nearby wooded area, where he eventually was apprehended by deputies, a report says.
During the investigation, the owner of the vehicle driven by Schrader called to report it stolen. During a search of the car, deputies located a Mentos bottle containing Alprazolam and a small bag of methamphetamine, the report says.
Schrader was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of methamphetamine. He was being held on $9,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.
