Silver Springs man charged with slapping woman

Taylor Townsend Martin

A Silver Springs man was arrested after he allegedly slapped a woman during an argument.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the victim’s residence on Monday afternoon and found Taylor Townsend Martin, 23, in a vehicle. Martin, who lives at 339 NE 118th Ave. Road, appeared to be leaving the area. He was detained and said he didn’t want to speak with the deputy about anything, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim told the deputy she got into a verbal altercation with Martin and he smacked her in the forehead with the back of his hand. The deputy observed a small red mark on her forehead, the report said.

Martin was charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on $250 bond. He will appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 8.
