Belleview woman accused of punching woman who told her to leave

Angela Renae Bracken

A Belleview woman was arrested last week after she allegedly punched a woman who asked her to get off her property.

Angela Renae Bracken, 51, of 11613 SE 69th Circle, was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and Bracken were on the back porch when she asked Bracken to leave the incident location multiple times and Bracken refused. She said Bracken struck her in the face with a closed fist and the two wrestled on the ground until an eyewitness pulled Bracken off the victim, according to the sheriff’s office report.

A witness told the deputy the victim had been arguing with Bracken about leaving the property when Bracken turned around and struck the victim in the face with a closed fist. The witness said she saw the incident on a security system monitor in the living room of the incident location. The witness said she got off the couch and went outside to break up the fight, the report said.

The property owner also witnessed the incident. He said he was on the back porch when the Bracken and the victim were arguing. The witness said he wasn’t paying much attention because he was helping a friend work on the roof. He said he looked over at the pair arguing and saw Bracken strike the victim in the face with a closed fist. He said they started to wrestle and Bracken was pulled off the victim, according to the report.

The security cameras did not record the incident. The deputy observed multiple small lacerations of the victim’s face that showed minor bruising and swelling. The victim declined to be seen by paramedics, the report said.

The deputy spoke with Bracken at the mobile home park office and read her Miranda warning. Bracken said she was at the incident location talking with the witness about issues with her trailer when the victim came out of the house screaming for her to get off the property. Bracken said she and the victim started to argue verbally when the victim grabbed her by the shoulder and punched her in the stomach with a closed fist, according to the report.

Bracken said she and the victim started to wrestle and she was pulled off the victim by the witness. Bracken said she then drove to the mobile home park office to wait for law enforcement to arrive. She had a small scratch on her left shoulder, the report said.

Bracken was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released Thursday on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
