Ocala man charged with beating up woman who called him name

Michael Brandon Beyer

An Ocala man is accused of beating up a woman after he heard her call him a name behind his back.

Michael Brandon Beyer, 33, was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened Monday night at his residence on SW 85th Loop. He was previously charged with simple domestic battery in November 2019, according to Marion County Jail records.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she was using speech-to-text software on her cell phone while sitting on the bed in her master bedroom. She said she was basically saying that Beyer has been an “a**hole” lately when he came into the room, started to argue and came at her, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim seemed to have trouble remembering exactly what was said during the argument. She said Beyer started hitting her with his fists and struck her in the face. The victim said Beyer then picked her up and threw her into the side of the bed. She said all she could do was try to protect herself with her arms. The victim said she was finally able to call law enforcement and that is when Beyer left the residence on foot, the report said.

The deputy observed the victim’s face and saw a significant amount of bruising on her swollen left eye socket. She was also bleeding from her left eye socket, and the blood ran down her neck and onto her chest, according to the report.

Another deputy found Beyer at the 8500 block of South U.S. Highway 41 and brought him back to the incident location. After being read his Miranda warning, Beyer said he left the residence because he knew the victim was going to call the cops, the report said.

Beyer said the victim jumped on his back while he was walking out the front door of the residence. He first said he “kicked” the victim off of him but later said he “shook” her off him. Beyer said when he shook the victim off him, she may have landed on her butt, according to the report.

The deputy asked Beyer if there was any other altercation and he said no. Asked if the victim had any other injuries, he said he didn’t know. Beyer then said the victim may have hit her head on the door when she fell, the report said.

Beyer was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was being held Friday on $1,000 bond. He will appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 8.
