Ocala woman arrested on child abuse charge after spat over cell phone

Connie Sue Enoch

An Ocala woman was charged with domestic child abuse recently after an argument with a juvenile female over a cell phone turned physical.

An eyewitness told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she saw Connie Sue Enoch, 54, slap the victim in the face several times. The relationship between Enoch and the victim was redacted from the sheriff’s office report, although they live together at the incident location.

The witness said there was a verbal argument over the victim taking Enoch’s cell phone after Enoch had taken away the victim’s phone. The witness said Enoch went into the victim’s room and slapped her on the left side of her face several times, according to the report.

The victim said she took Enoch’s phone, which made Enoch angry. She said Enoch slapped her several times on the left side of her face, causing swelling to her cheek that the deputy observed, the report said.

Enoch told the deputy she took the victim’s cell phone because she believed it was stolen. She said the victim then took her phone and refused to give it back. Enoch admitted to slapping the victim in the face, but she said she did it only after the victim kicked her in the groin, according to the report.

Enoch was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on $500 bond. She’s due to appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 1.
