Pillow-throwing Ocala man jailed on battery charge

Paul Kerry Wilson

An Ocala man was charged with simple battery after he admitted to throwing a pillow at a woman during an argument.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and Paul Kerry Wilson, 63, got into an argument in a vehicle Monday afternoon while they were on the way from the hospital to their home on Hialeah Drive. The victim said once they were home, she went inside to avoid the argument, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she was cleaning the residence and became upset because nobody was helping her or doing chores. She said Wilson became upset with her for saying she doesn’t get any help from anyone and replied, “(expletive deleted),” to the victim. The victim said she told Wilson to leave the residence and he wouldn’t, the report said.

The victim said Wilson became so upset, he started throwing things at her. She said Wilson threw his cell phone, which didn’t hit her. The victim said Wilson then threw a pillow that struck her on the face. She said she left the residence and called law enforcement, according to the report.

Asked what happened, Wilson told the deputy he and the victim returned from the hospital and got into an argument because the victim was tired of doing things around the house. He said he was upset and threw his pone at the wall. Wilson said he also threw a pillow at the victim but wasn’t sure whether he hit her, the report said.

Wilson was determined to be the primary aggressor and taken to the Marion County Jail. He was released Tuesday on his own recognizance and will appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 2.
